Alt Summit

This past week I was so bummed I didn't get a ticket to Alt Summit, seeing everyones posts about it just broke my heart! I wanted to be there SO bad. Then to my surprise, Courtney called me on Friday morning inviting me to come with her that evening! Her friend was sick (I don't know if this is really allowed...) and offered for me to take her place for the evening. Heck yeah! We had a blast hitting up all the mini parties and it was such a treat to meet blog friends in real life. Court left a little early, so I put on my brave pants, and went and made some new friends. I felt like I was in middle school again, dancing in a crowd, and approaching people like "Hey! Whats your name?" Talk about being out of my comfort zone! The best part was when I went to sit by some girls on a couch, and when I sat down the couch broke - The legs completely snapped on the side I sat on! Fatty of the year award!? Hahah!

But overall it was an awesome experience, I'm so glad I had the opportunity to get a little taste of Alt even just for one evening! I am so going next year, who else is planning on attending?

Norway Pt. 2

My cousin Lisa flew me to Norway to film her fairy tale of a wedding. Here's the ceremony video I just finished editing - I think they did a really good job at acting like it wasn't -5˚ F outside, what do you think? And could you dream of a prettier location to get married!? Swoon! Thanks again for having me, Lisa and Rune. It was an experience I will never forget. :)

  Oh, and how awesome are these chicks in their Norwegian bunads? I found them in the basement at the reception being all competitive and stuff. I love it, absolutely love it.

Recently, I've been receiving the sweetest emails requesting tips on videography, and related questions about getting a business started! So please excuse me, as I may get a little nerdy sounding over here... :)

FAQ's:

What camera & lenses do you use?

I film with my Cannon 7D and my favorite lenses at the moment are my 50mm, 70-200mm, & the 10-22mm.

What editing software do you work with?

I edit all my videos in Final Cut Pro 7 (Yes thats right, I tried 10 and didn't like it!) And I edit all my photos in Photoshop CS5.

How did you get started, did you go to school?
I've had such a fascination with videography since a very young age - I started by filming my barbies, and sneaking our family video camera to elementary school. Then over the years I got a little more serious with it, purchasing better equipment... Finding cinematography books to study...  Then I studied at UVU for a semester (I didn't last long! Whoops.), and then really became self taught after that. I felt happier going at a faster pace on my own, studying books, and having lots of hands on experiences.

What advice would you give to somebody wanting to start their own business?

Have confidence, and be yourself! What makes you unique is that you are you, and nobody else. Go outside of your comfort zone, and get your name out there! Don't be nervous if things don't boom at first - if you keep producing products you are proud of, things will fall into place, I promise!

Norway Pt. 1

Norway in the winter time... It was quite a different experience! I Never thought I'd say this, but with the sun only up for 3 hours, I found the darkness really quite cozy. Walking around the streets lit by strung cafe lights had such a magical feeling, and made me a little love sick for my Bradley! He got a job to film in Mexico the same weekend, so he was unable to join me - but now we have an excuse to come back, because he's never been to Norway before. :) It was so nice to see and spend time with my family - I weirdly enjoy being surrounded by all the Norwegian even though I cant understand a thing! My Tante Turid (my grandpas sister) is always such a treat to sit down and chat with. And I was surprised with how much time I actually got to spend with Lisa, with wedding preparations and all. We spent the first evening walking around the pretty lit streets catching up on the past two years, and laughing our heads off. We have such a goofy relationship, and I love it - I wish we lived closer. The next morning I took off and had a little adventure on my own, shopping in all the little thrift stores along the river, snapping a million pictures, and eating my heart out in scandinavian chocolate. (That's what I call a vacation!) Then Lisa's wedding day came and it was absolutely stunning, it was so cool to experience a norwegian wedding! The afternoon was probably the coldest shoot of my entire life, but it was so beautiful that I just couldn't stop filming, haha! Eye candy everywhere. I kept saying "I know you hate me right now, but you're going to love me later!" - I am so excited to share what I captured! Post coming soon...

All in all, It was an amazing trip... But I'm really happy to be back home with my B. :)

We reunited with a really good cuddle sesh.

Solo, Yolo?

How pathetic am I? Only 14 days into the New Year and I've already broken one of my resolutions (To not drink soda)! The taste of Solo reminds me of my childhood, trips to the cabin, Christmas at my Poppy Per's, and especially of my first visit to Norway the summer of 1996. I have yet to find a place that sells this stuff in SLC, so how could I possibly resist? 

#YOLO, right? ;)

A Night at the Museum

We initially went to the art museum to see the Leonardo Exhibit. We went through, and don't get me wrong, it was really interesting and cool... But I think I enjoyed the treasures we found in the children's exhibit a little bit better! So many fun colors, things to do and see... My personal favorite was the stop motion station. We sat there giggling to ourselves as we put this together...

We are so immature, but I'm okay with that.

New Years Resolutions

To celebrate the New Year, we got some friends together and wrote our resolutions on chinese lanterns. I wrote things like...

NO SODA
(YES, I'M MAKING THE BIG LEAP)
SAVE MONEY
LEARN TO COOK
EXERCISE
BE A BETTER WIFE & FRIEND

Then we drove out to the freezing Great Salt Lake, to let them fly. We laughed so hard trying to get the lanterns to work, and all the boys about singed their fingers off - They couldn't feel the flames hit their freezing numb fingers! But in the end it was a total success, and I think everyone had a good time.

2013 is going to be an awesome year, I can just feel it.
